For the second year in a row, we received a $1,500.00 community grant from the Junior League of Memphis. With this money, we were able to purchase books which were given to our TIPS families and books which were put in our TIPS lending library.
Generous donations from the Memphis Civitan Foundation, Church of the Holy Spirit and the Nike Employee Charitable Contribution Fund, along with money raised in various fundraisers, helped us provide numerous other support services.
We were able to send a family to a Cochlear Implant conference where they were able to meet other families whose children had received cochlear implants. They were also, able to speak with representatives from the different cochlear implant companies who provided them with valuable information enabling them to make an informed decision about cochlear implants for their child.
Friends of TIPS provided assistance to a family helping them with the cost of 3 out of state trips concerning their child’s medical needs.
Friends of TIPS was also able to help several families who experienced emergencies. One family lost their child’s stroller and car seat when their car was stolen; Friends of TIPS replaced these items. Adaptive seating recommended by the occupational therapist, was purchased for another family allowing their child to sit at the table during meal time. This family will donate the chair to the lending library when their child outgrows it. Another family received assistance with bereavement expenses.
